designHave you ever wondered what could Magnus Carlsen’s best chess games be? Today, I’d like to share with you a short collection (6 games) of the World Champion’s best games. I hope you would like to see them and hopefully to learn something new. 🙂

Game-1: Carlsen vs Kasparov

As a young kid, Carlsen was able to look at the legendary Garry Kasparov in his eyes. This was the first game where he had some real chances of winning.

Game-2: Carlsen vs Topalov

In this game Carlsen managed to defeat a former World Champion, Topalov. He played fantastically in Moscow variation in the semi-slav and he proved that the knight was better than the bishop, in this particular game.

Game-3: Carlsen vs Gelfand

Here you can see another Slav defense, but this time he played against Gelfand, the best chess player from Israel. It was a very tough game with a lot of complications, but Magnus managed to win at the end.

Game-4: Carlsen vs Nakamura

Hikaru Nakamura is one of the best American players for a very long time. It was possible for him to challenge Magnus for the World Championship Match; at least this is something that he wants.

During this game Magnus controlled the centre and the position, in general. At move 31, he sacrificed an exchange in order to attack the kingside and won the game afterwards. This is definitely one of his best games for sure.

Game-5: Carlsen vs Anand

Magnus is a very creative player and he has a strong will to win games. In this game, he sacrificed a pawn (18.e5 and 19. e6) in the solid Maróczy Bind. On the move 23 he found a really great plan to attack and score a very cool victory against another former World Chess Champion, Vishy Anand. This is a game that you need to know for sure!

Game-6: Carlsen vs Li Chao

If you think Magnus is only good at positional play and maneuvers, then you’re wrong. After watching this game you will be sure that Magnums can manage attack and defense very well. It was really an enjoyable game and truly one of his best.

I hope you liked this collection. Do you think any other game(s) of Magnus Carlsen as his best? Or, is your favorite game of Carlsen not in the list? Feel free to comment them below, I’ll be happy to see them. 🙂
