Top 6 Checkmate TRAPS | Chess Opening Tricks to Win Fast

Hey there chess enthusiasts! Are you tired of playing the same old opening moves and looking for some exciting traps to add to your repertoire?

Look no further! In this article, we’ll explore six sneaky traps that will catch your opponents off guard and give you the upper hand in your games.

From the obscure h3 move in the Dutch Defense to sacrificing a rook in the Two Knights Game, get ready to add some unconventional tactics to your game.

And don’t forget to stick around for the puzzle of the day at the end!

Dutch Defense Trap

The first trap works against the Dutch Defense, which is alike the mirrored Sicilian Defense.

  1. d4 f5 2. h3

Here, you play h3, an obscure move preparing g4.

2..Nf6 3. g4 fxg4 4 hxg4 Nxg4

They may play pawn a6 or any other move, but you do play pawn g4 anyway. You keep playing seemingly dumb moves, violating all of the classical opening rules.

You don’t develop and you don’t try to fight for the center. You play some weird attack on the side, and sacrifice the pawn.

It’s hard to believe that getting this pawn for Black is actually a bad mistake, and yet it is the case

5. Qd3 Nf6 6. Rxh7 Rxh7 7. Qg6#

Qd3, attacking this pawn twice. Now, our queen and rook attack it, and after Black naturally defends it with Nf6, we ignore Black once again and take their pawn on h7 anyway, attacking the rook. And after Black captures it with either knight or rook, we go Qg6, checkmate.

Fried Liver Attack Trap

Now it’s time for Black to have some fun. Let’s see a trap against the fried liver attack.

Two Knights Trap

The third trap actually uses a similar bait. In this Two Knights Game, we’re ready to sacrifice our rook.

Ponziani Trap

This time let’s see a cool trap in the Ponziani Opening.

Russo Gambit Trap

This one is my favorite opening for Black against e4. A very rare Russo Gambit, which has a crazy success rate.

If you love this opening, I’ve got another video where we’re covering greater details. See the video below.

Sicilian Defense Trap

Here comes the final checkmating trap for today, which works in the Sveshnikov Sicilian Defense.
