How to Decompress Split Zip Files (After Downloading)?

Archives and Compression

In order to facilitate faster downloads, your course has been conveniently compressed into a split *.zip archive. This compression basically makes the course smaller and, therefore, easier and faster for you to download.

After you’ve downloaded the course successfully, you’ll need to decompress this split zip file so that you can run the course. Common utilities such as WinZip, WinRar, 7-Zip or similar may be used to easily extract the course’s contents.

What software should I use?

As mentioned above, in order to run the chess course you will first need to extract the course files from the compressed *.zip archive. Common programs that are capable of extracting such a compressed archive include:

Most commonly, your computer will already have such software installed. However, if you don’t have any of these programs installed, we recommend that you use 7-Zip as it works well and is also free.

Follow the below steps using any of the above programs:

Instructions
1) Click “Start” if you have Windows XP or later versions and choose “Programs,” “Accessories” and “Windows Explorer.” The Windows Explorer window appears.
2) Navigate to the folder containing the zip files by double-clicking drives and folders to open them.
3) Choose “File” from the Windows Explorer window and select “New” and “Folder” to create a new folder. You can optionally rename this folder by right-clicking it and choosing “Rename.”
4) Drag the split zip archives into this new folder. Open the folder to reveal its contents. All the pieces of the complete zip must be in the folder or you cannot extract them.
5) Right-click the first zip file and choose “Open With” and then “Compress (zipped) Folder.” The original file appears in a new window.
Click “Extract All Files” in the Folder Tasks pane on the right side of the window. A wizard is displayed. Specify a location for the extracted archive, which by default is the current folder. Then go through the wizard to complete extraction.
6) The file will be extracted to specified location. You can study the course located the specified location.
