How to Get the Maximum Benefit From Your Chess Lessons?
Want to get the most benefit from your lessons?
That’s completely understandable and I heartily applaud you for taking your study seriously enough to want to know this. And that of course is exactly what you must do if you are ever to get the most out of your training/study; study all the materials SERIOUSLY.
The road to real advancement
Superficial knowledge is useless to your continued growth. You must learn thoroughly ALL of the video lessons (repeat lessons if you need to), and must also systematically perform ALL of the practical tasks. Everything within the course is there for a reason and the only way to get real advancement is to read the presented instructions very carefully and to follow them most strictly.
Serious study
A SERIOUS study of 1 of my course should take at least one month! This is one of those rare occasions where you need to slow down in order to go fast. By not being in such a hurry (to reach a goal, complete a task, etc.), you can give yourself the time to more thoroughly understand something. The fast bit comes in when you don’t have to continually look up things that you could have understood already.
Know your stuff
At the risk of being redundant, I feel I must emphasize that a superficial effort really will give you little progress, but I only repeat it because it is just so important. If you are to truly reach your full potential you really must know your stuff and know it intimately. Or as the saying goes, “the more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in war.”
