Most INSANE Variation From King’s Gambit

Today I’m going to share with you one of the most aggressive chess gambits for White, the Bertin Gambit, which happens in the King’s Gambit after the opening moves: 1.e4 e5 2.f4.

The Bertin Gambit (also known as the Three Pawns’ Gambit) happens in the King’s Gambit Accepted Variation 2…exf4 and after 3.Nf3 Be7, we get to the Cunningham Defense.

After 4.Bc4 Bh4+ 5.g3 fxg3 6.0-0 gxh2+, a series of pawn sacrifices, White plays 7.Kh1 and surprisingly White’s king is super-safe! It is Black who is in trouble because White is ready for a ferocious kingside attack as all the pieces are targeting the f7-square.
